One app where every record links.
SPOT is the app I run my business from: projects, tasks, people and notes in one database, with Claude Code working in it alongside me.
What it does
My work lived in four apps that never talked to each other. SPOT replaces them with one, and its name says the goal: Single Place Of Truth.
- Projects and tasks, with a quick add that files the project and tags the person as I type.
- People and companies, with a pipeline: who's new, who I've contacted, who's gone quiet, who's due a follow-up today.
- Notes from my notes vault, searchable, with every note that links to a project shown on that project.
Any record can link to any other. Tag a person in a task and the task shows on their page, right where I'll look next time we talk.
How it's built
It runs on Cloudflare Workers with a D1 database, behind a Cloudflare Access login. On a phone it's the same web page saved to the home screen; there's no separate app.
Claude Code reaches it through an MCP server, so I can say "add a task" or "log a call" and it calls the tool directly. The same connector works in the Claude phone app.
I built it in slices, test first: people and pipeline, then projects and tasks, then notes. The notes slice alone finished with 509 automated tests. A demo switch swaps in made-up data, so I can film it without showing a real name.
What it cost
About a week from the first sketch to the version in the film, with Claude Code writing most of the code and me making the calls. I tore down the best two or three apps in each area first, kept what I'd actually use, and mocked each screen before building it.
What broke, and what I'd change
Signing Claude in to the MCP server was the hardest part. The first token exchange failed on a client-registration error, not the sign-in method I first suspected, and the desktop app's Reconnect button wiped the saved token. Each fix is written down so the next login takes minutes.
What I'd change: I'd build the demo-data switch even earlier. Everything I show publicly, this page included, depends on it.
